Give and Appreciate

Finally having the power back on, after Miss. Irene ripped her way through my state. After losing the ability to make a phone call, cook dinner, or even simply being able to shower in the privacy of my own home, I am so appreciative of everything that most of us all usually have the advantage of doing. We don't realize how truly lucky we are just to simply be able to sleep in the comfort of our own home. Unfortunately many still are without power. I feel as if natural disasters are ways of taking us out of our own hectic world where we are wrapped up in our jobs, and our personal dramas (not that they aren't important), and reminding us that life is so much bigger. It reminds us that we are never alone in our suffering. It gives us each a chance to work together in helping each other get back on our feet. It makes us see past thick or thin, black or white, rich or poor. It really brings us together. I guess the point I am making out of this post, is just to be a good person, regardless of what each of us may be going through. Remember everyone is going through something, whether it be big or small. Help as many people along your life path as possible. Appreciate everything that you have, even the basics, like having food on the table, or sleeping in your own bed. There is no wrong definition of living right. Just give as much as possible (doesn't have to be money or material objects. A helping hand will do just as good), while expecting the very least in return. The true meaning of Life is something so precious, something that in order to find true fulfillment within our own, we must first give a piece to fulfill someone elses.
